For a moment,
I was ushered into the presence of the Lord
near the corner of Union Avenue and Third Street,
in front of the pizzeria,
just past the sign that explained that
one must feed the meters between 8 AM and 5 PM
on weekdays.
He mumbled a bit
or perhaps, I confused His thundering with mumbling.
I thought I heard Him say,
“Average effort, thou moderately faithful servant.
Hang around a bit, there might be a few
things for you to work on
before you enter into My rest.”
